Youth Wrestling Program

The Sunnyvale Wrestling Club Youth Program is designed to help wrestlers build confidence, develop sound technique, and grow their love for the sport in a positive, challenging environment. Whether your child is stepping onto the mat for the first time or preparing to compete at a high level, our coaching staff will place them in the training group that best supports their development.

Our youth program is divided into three skill levels:

White

Our beginner program focuses on introducing the fundamentals of wrestling. Athletes learn proper stance, movement, basic techniques, mat awareness, and sportsmanship while building confidence in a fun, structured environment. White groups are organized into Small and Big training groups, with additional combined practices throughout the week.

Gray

Gray wrestlers continue building their technical skills while introducing more advanced techniques, live wrestling, and competition strategies. Combined Gray practices allow athletes to train alongside Black-level wrestlers, creating opportunities to learn from more experienced teammates.

Black

Our advanced training group is designed for experienced wrestlers who are committed to improving their technique, conditioning, and competitive performance. Practices are fast-paced and challenging, preparing athletes for local, state, and national competition.

Athlete Placement

Athletes are placed into groups by our coaching staff based on their age, size, experience, maturity, and skill level. Group placements are flexible and may change as wrestlers develop throughout the season to ensure every athlete is training in the environment where they can be most successful.
