Big Week for Sunnyvale Wrestling Club

Our Sunnyvale Youth Elementary League is coming to a close, Jake Herbert is coming into town, and the Black Sheep Open will fill our gym this Saturday. To say we are busy would be an understatement but being busy is good and nothing prepares you to work hard like wrestling.

6 weeks of elementary school wrestling is coming to a close at Lakewood, San Miguel, Ellis, Bishop, and Vargas Elementary Schools in the Sunnyvale Elementary School District. This is a dream of our club that we have been able to see to fruition. To create longevity through we will be starting a fundraising drive to raise the funds necessary to keep the league going into the distant future, and possibly expand to all 8 elementary schools someday.

Olympian, and World Silver Medalist, Jake Herbert will be at Fremont High School this Friday, October 23rd, to give a clinic to our elementary schoolers and then our middle and high schoolers. For more information or to sign up CLICK HERE. We are excited to have another extremely high quality wrestler come into Sunnyvale and show technique through our program. Bringing in the best not only keeps our wrestlers excited about the sport, it gives them a reason to be a fan of the sport as well as a participant.

Saturday October 24th will be the 1st annual Black Sheep Open. This is a local folkstyle tournament run by the SCVWA. We are extremely lucky to have the support of our local USA Wrestling Association, the SCVWA, as well as the State Governing Body of CA USAW. This tournament is a fundraiser for our program and helps us continue to provide wrestling for little or no cost in Sunnyvale.
